The pair didn’t have money for traditional stainless-steel brewing tanks, and instead used plastic water tanks from the local garden centers. Watt and Dickie grew up in a tiny fishing village in northeast cyber security stocks Scotland called Fraserburgh and have been inseparable since they were kids. Watt studied law at the University of Edinburgh, but he was too much of a rebel for a legal career.
After graduation, he lasted just two weeks in pinstripes before quitting and trading his new suits for waders. He spent the next six years catching haddock and lobster on a north Atlantic fishing boat—and home-brewing beers when he was onshore. WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN IPA BEER AND REGULAR BEER?
There’s nothing inherently strong about an IPA compared to other beers. Some IPAs are stronger than the average regular beer, and some regular beers are stronger than the average IPA. There’s such a wide range on the market that you could end up getting a party brew when all you want is something light to sip with your lexatrade lasagne (or vice versa, which is frankly inexcusable). IPAs have a fascinating history dating back to the days of British global dominance. Yet by the 1990s, they had fallen out of fashion, and it was almost impossible to find an IPA in a Britain whose bars were dominated by lagers, pilsners, bitters and ciders. Enter a new breed of craft brewers, and the IPA didn’t just get a new lease of life, it practically became the standard drink in the craft beer world.

Regular beers tend to be aimed at more mainstream tastes, so are brewed for familiarity by using basic, predictable ingredients and methods. Craft beer is often brewed specifically to appeal to more adventurous tastes, but some craft beers do have accessible flavours. It’s more about the philosophy. Not surprisingly, some proponents of craft beer can take the connoisseur act a little far, and try their best to alienate outsiders. Real lovers of craft ales are merely satisfying their own tastes, and are thrilled to get the chance to try new beers, and to introduce friends to them.
